Okay - I am going to jump right into my thoughts.
A regular ticket cost $30 and the price tag for VIP status was $50. That was waaaay too much money for what consumers got in return. The VIP area offered two types of cake to eat, chocolate kisses, Champagne, make up application, a professional massage and a few chairs to sit down. It was supposed to also offer a fashion show and featured speakers but that ended up happening on the main floor for all to enjoy. There should have never been a VIP section. It was really no need for it and people could have saved that extra $20. I paid for a regular ticket but was upgraded when I mentioned that I was part of the press. I had no idea there was a press list available. When I went on the website I didn’t see an option to register as a journalist so I bought a ticket like everyone else.
The venue was perfect for the event and there were only two tables selling hair care products. The others sold jewelry, hats and a how-to-style your hair DVD. The organizers said they reached out to other hair care companies but because there are larger shows going on at this time they just did not participate.
For fun there were several raffle drawings and an outstanding DJ that kept everyone dancing in there place.
People seemed to have been forgiving of the obvious flaws. They made the best of it and had a good time. I had a good time and feel if the event continues it will improve and grow drastically.

Years ago I heard about a website called MeetUp.com where one can find a group of people who share the same interest. I wanted to meet other natural heads to talk about products, hair care and styles. So last week I signed up and found a group hosting a meeting in Brooklyn. I attended my first Meet Up on Saturday. The topic of discussion was Brothas who Love Sistas with Natural Hair. We had a very interesting conversation.
The Meet Up was held at Delux Gallery a natural hair salon in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn. Check out the pics below.
