Simple DIY Body Butter

Friday, January 24th, 2020

I made a body butter using just three ingredients. For a long time I did not use my old body butter recipes or any store bought body butter. What I did was scoop up a small clump of shea butter, rubbed it together in the palm of my hands to loosen it, then smeared it on my body until my dry skin was shiny and moisturized.

Doing it that way works. There is really nothing wrong with it. I just wanted a change. I missed using my favorite butter, which is cocoa, on a daily bases. Because of its hard original form it takes longer to apply and when I am getting ready for work in the morning I just don’t have the time. But I missed it. I like the sweet chocolaty scent of cocoa butter. I also like the way shea and cocoa butter combined leaves my skin feeling moisturized, and looking shiny, which enhances a healthy caramel color.

I didn’t use a lot of ingredients to make this butter. The two butters were enough. They always have been. I just added a little oil and that was it.

Normally I measure stuff but this time I didn’t. I eye balled a few clumps and some crumbs of cocoa butter and heated it in a pot until it melted.

I put more clusters of shea butter in an electric mixer, added the melted cocoa butter, and mixed the butters on medium speed until I achieved the consistency I wanted.

I added very little vegetable oil, because I was out of olive oil, and if I told you I included vegetable oil that I had just cooked vegan bacon with would you believe me?

The body butter will stiffen a bit because of the cocoa butter. That is why I used more shea. Glass jars have always been my favorite way to store things. Even my spice jars and tupperware are made of glass.

This looks good. I like to put a little almond, grapeseed, avocado oils in it makes it more creamy
