More From Our Wedding Vow Renewal
Five, ten, fifteen, twenty, those numbers, and alike, are well rounded numbers to do something with. So for this “wood” year of marriage the Hubs and I decided to renew our wedding vows because five is a good number to do something with.
Our second wedding consisted of just us. We didn’t have family or friends there and no fancy reception took place. We wanted to honor and respect our marriage without it being busy and one of the best places to do that in New Mexico is at Hacienda Vargas in Algodones.
The wedding chapel at Hacienda Vargas offers the grace and elegance of historical New Mexico. In its rural setting the adobe chapel is more than 200 years old and care has been taken to preserve the spirit of the Old West, the influence of the original Spanish settlers, and the presence of the Pueblo Indian culture.
Now who would have thunk five years after our first wedding we would renew our vows? I didn’t think of doing this. It was all the Hubs’ idea. However, once it was agreed, everything else was me.
What I learned after being married for five years is marriage is not easy. Everyone says that and everyone who say that is telling the truth. If we were just dating I would have moved on. But marriage is different. We took vows before God and those are to be taken seriously. During our marriage the human in us has stepped in but God stepped in and snapped us back into place. Who else is better to do that than HIM?
I also learned that the Hubs is the only man who has been able to slip under my skin, invade my blood, and seize my heart. He is my soulmate and I plan to stay married to him in this lifetime and continue well into the next.
I just realized something. Around the time we first married we purchased a house and then got married. Now we did the same thing. We purchased a different house and then re-married. Wow. How about that? I wonder what positive venture will happen to us in the future?

Oh my gosh…I have to laugh because I agree with everything you just said. We are coming up on six years in November and marriage is hard work. I am pretty sure both of us would have moved on too, but for GOD intervening and prayer. The day we were married I said “til death do us part and beyond”.
Congratulations to both of you. Always keep GOD first and things will work out.
