Career Change

Friday, September 28th, 2012

I decided to make a career change to become more independent in what I do. So that means I will have to take a risk and start my own business. I always wanted to do my own thing but was afraid of failing. Well, that’s in the past, because now I am going to do it.

I am taking the necessary real estate courses to become a broker. I registered for all of the classes I need to take and pass in order to then take the state and national real estate exam. Once I pass the test – then I’ll be a real estate broker.

So now I am a student again – taking very demanding courses. It’s been a very, very – hey – it’s been more than 20 years since I’ve been a student taking more than one Continuing Ed course at a time. I have a lot of homework, loads of quizzes to study for, chapters to read and I’m like – WOW – I forgot what all of this stuff was like to do!

Here in New Mexico, a new real estate broker has to work at a brokerage for two years out of five before they can start their own reality firm. That’s fine with me because in that time I can learn and experience what I need to before I go solo.

As a public relations professional, I sold to the media, plenty of top feature interviews, and I plan to use those same skills to sell residential homes.

So if posts don’t show up as often, it will be because I am drowning in school work, and didn’t have time to share what I am doing with my hair.

Permed to Natural is still going to be active, though. I paid too much money to get this blog started to just let it go.  :)
