Closing One Door and Opening Another

June 28 made a year since I’ve been in New Mexico. I arrived in Albuquerque as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and since the program is 12 months, my time has quickly come to an end. Now that the project is over I am staying in New Mexico and not retuning to New York. I said that before and I am still in the same place. I like New Mexico. This state has a lot of hidden treasures and I plan to explore all of them.
So now I am really unemployed. I’m looking for a regular 9 to 5, but in the meantime, I am sort of happy that I have time to complete small projects around the house, take naps throughout the day and sleep late.
But most importantly, I have time to spend with our puppy Rottweiler we adopted from a breeder in Georgia at Stoney Creek Rottweilers through an online pet adoption agency called Purebread Breeders. We were unsure about Purebread Breeders because of the bad reviews we read online. But after seriously talking to them and the breeder about our concerns, we became confident in working with them and received a wonderful puppy that has captured our hearts.
We named our puppy Bolo. In cop code language the name means – “Be On the Look Out!”
Bolo was shipped to us from Georgia when he was 8 weeks and 1 day. He is truly a hand full and has to be watched at all times. He gets into everything!!!! We spend our time chasing Bolo around the house commanding him to “leave it,” “off” or just “stop!” At the end of the day he becomes so sleepy he can’t hold his head up. That’s when I want to wake him up just on “GP.”
I have to be honest Bolo’s first week was tough. I haven’t had a dog in more than 20 years. Chasing and constantly cleaning up after a puppy was something I was not used to doing. I was ready to call it quits but the Hubs didn’t want to give up on him. He assured me that one day he will grow out of it. Now that I think about it – I didn’t really mean it. I was just frustrated because I never had to clean my new hard wood floors so often in one week.
Check out Bolo’s pictures below. I want to sign him with a puppy modeling agency.
First visit at the Vet’s office. He was a good boy.
16.6 pounds at 8 1/2 weeks old.

I think New Mexico is pretty cool and Bolo is very mischevious.
