Home Made Hair Cream – Second Batch
I made a second batch of hair cream almost 6 months to the date of my first concoction. Because the cream has no preservatives, I didn’t want it to last no longer than 6 months. I ran out just in time.
This new batch contains almost the same ingredients as before. I used similar oils but they are a little different. I added new oils and processed the hair cream differently – by accident. This is what I did.
- 2 cups of White Raw Shea Butter
- 2 tablespoons of Jojoba Oil
- 2 tablespoons of Avocado Oil
- 2 tablespoons of Almond Oil
- 2 tablespoons of Vitamin E Oil
- 2 tablespoons of Olive Oil
- 2 tablespoons of Coconut Oil
- 2 tablespoons of Grapeseed Oil
- Cedarwood Essential Oil – 10 drops
- Rosemary Essential Oil – 10 drops
- Thyme Essential Oil – 10 drops
- Peppermint Essential Oil – 10 drops
- Lavender Essential Oil – 11 drops (an extra drop fell out)
- Tea Tree Essential Oil – 5 drops (it was dropping a little slow and I became impatient)
Unlike before some of the oils you cannot cook with. I wonder if it will make a difference? I added all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, on speed 1, I incorporated everything for 20 minutes.
I knew I had no Frankincense or Myrrh Oil to add to bring about a sweet fragrance. I was just going to use the hair cream as is but decided I could not put the smell of raw shea butter and essential oils in my hair.
So I covered the mixture with a plastic wrap and let it sit room temperature.
More than 24 hours later I purchased a small jar of Frankincense Oil and poured in 6 caps full.
I mixed the frangrance into the batch for just a few minutes. I didn’t notice a sweet smell right away, but I do know that the older the cream gets, the sweeter it smells.
Very creamy and fluffy.
Ready to use.

Hey there,
I’ve just landed on your site and I think its fabulous. I love that you’re into natural, organic products and it’s great that you make your own hair/skin oils/creams. How often do you use this homemade cream? Do you apply it everyday?

Thank you very much for the compliments. I use my hair cream three or four times a week or when my hair tells me it needs a little something after I negelected it from a busy schedule.
