Representing Their Countries

Friday, August 20th, 2010

The Miss Universe Pageant’s preliminary competition is in full effect. The contestants represent their country each year with beautiful costumes and I really took a liking to Miss Haiti’s outfit. It symbolizes the tragedy from the earthquake. Well done!

Plus her hair reminds me of the bun and rose I wore in my hair for a week a couple of weeks ago. A friend told me I should wear the hair accessory again. I think I will.

Miss Zambia looks fantastic. A traditional African outfit that reminds me of my days as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Congo and back packing throughout Africa. I visited Zambia during my travels and had a wonderful experience. The country is beautiful.

And my own Miss USA is our country’s mascot, the beautiful bald eagle. She wrote a letter to Obama saying she’s going to represent him, the work he is doing and our country by wearing this costume.

The Miss Universe Pageant will air live from the Mandalay Bay Center in Las Vegas, NV Monday, August 23 at 9pm EST on NBC and Telemundo.

Y’all know I love pageantry!
