I am Looking For a New Hair Stylist

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

You know…sometimes hair stylists really get on my nerves.

  • Why do they like to style your hair the way they want and not the way you asked them to?
  • Why do they like to cut your hair when you asked for a trim?
  • Why do they like to burn you with the hot curler and then pretend it was a mistake?
  • Why do they like to be unnecessarily heavy-handed while styling your hair and then act like they can’t help it?
  • Why do they like to tell you one price and then quote a different amount later?
  • Why do hair stylists like to try to sneak in extra charges just to get over?
  • Why do they put the wrong color in your hair?
  • Why do they like to use the wrong perm and/or strength in your hair?
  • Why do stylists like to gossip about their clients as soon as they walk out of the door?

I can go on but I’m not. I guess I’m still venting over my last visit to the salon. My hair looks okay. People like it. But, I’m telling you, I asked her to style it differently and she did what she wanted to do and then pretended she didn’t know what I was talking about.

Maybe 10% is not a big enough tip. And that doesn’t include the money I give to the girl who washes my hair.

I guess talking about my blogging experience pissed her off. I should learn to keep my mouth shut.

I guess the way I look, walk and talk annoyed her. Well there’s nothing I’m going to do about that. I’m fierce!

Or she’s unhappy with who she is and is struggling with her own identity.

Whatever the case may be…I’m looking for a new stylist. I don’t know what started all of this. Maybe I looked like a sucker to her. But it’s obvious she has enough clients and does not have a need for my money.

And you know what else? After she cut my hair, I asked her to style it like Michelle Obama’s and her response was, “I don’t know what her hair looks like.”

Can you believe that?! She was on a roll. She doesn’t want me to come back. Like I said, she must have enough clients and is rolling in the dough. But because of her mind set, what she thinks is “good money,” more than likely is not.

Transitioning from permed to natural is so so hard.
